Took an early Amtrak train from New York’s Penn Station to Washington’s Union Station

Walked through the heart of Washington DC and buildings surrounding the National Mall
Points of interest plotted on Google Maps

Started from Washington Union Station

South to the US Capitol

West along Independence Ave, passing the Smithsonian Castle, Freer Art Gallery, and US Dept of Agriculture

North along 14th St to Washington Monument, Ellipse Park, The White House, and US Dept of Treasury

South along 17th St passing National Security Council, American National Red Cross, and down to the WWII Memorial

West along Reflecting Pool to Lincoln Memorial

South to Martin Luther King Jr, George Mason and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorials

South-East to Thomas Jefferson Memorial

North to Independence Ave and East to Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building

Then back to Washington Union Station to catch the train
